Maison de l'Enfance Project

The aim of our Maison de l'Enfance Project (Children's Centre Project) is to protect vulnerable and abused children. We work in partnership with UK-based charity Stand Up For Africa.

Our Project

Our Project provides a safe haven, health care and education for deprived and vulnerable children who need shelter, on a temporary or longer-term basis.

In 2007, our small Centre in Bohicon (Zakpota) provided 25 impoverished children with the support they so badly needed. In addition to a safe place to live, each child received:

  • Monthly health checks and all necessary medical care.
  • Clothing and food.
  • Payment of school fees, school equipment.

Support our 2008 Appeal

Building work at the Childrens ProjectThanks to generous donations from our supporters, we are now building a bigger Maison de l'Enfance (Children's Centre) with facilities to shelter, protect, educate and rehabilitate up to 500 deprived children.

The foundation stone of our new Maison de l'Enfance was laid in August 2007 on a hill overlooking the beautiful Lake Ahémé. The Centre will include a school, a counselling and transit centre, dormitories, a medical wing, a kitchen and canteen, and a vocational training room.

We need your help to complete the building work, and give deprived children in Benin the shelter, education and health care they need.
